unravelling the thoughts of an emotional blockhead

When the going gets tough the tough go shopping...

I didn’t think that I’m the type of person who would actually benefit from retail therapy. I always thought that it wasn’t a real thing, only an excuse made up by shopaholics around the world to make themselves feel better while they sit on top of a mountain of unnecessary stuff.

I guess the joke’s on me, because as it turns out, I’m not immune to the therapeutic effects of shopping. Either that or the stresses of the past few months have broken my will and lured me to its psychological benefits.

I’ve made some big purchases these past few months – splurges, if you will. While I don’t necessarily regret these buys, I also don’t think I would have bought theme otherwise, had I not been under duress.

Excluding my car, these are probably the most expensive things I own in my life, which I think says a lot about the way I live. While the process of me forking over the dough in exchange for the items below did hurt the tiniest bit, I have to say that I did feel a lot better after I got my hands on them.

  1. Fujifilm XT-10. Earlier this year I entertained the thought of buying a new camera but in the back of my mind I thought that I’d buy it next year. Oh well. I haven’t played with it yet, but I will soon.

  2. Laneige BB Cusion. I ran out of my L’oreal foundation (a drugstore buy that, at 750php, I already deemed as a splurge) and I read an article on Cosmo about how this product was sold out after its endorser, Song Hye Kyo, used it on one of her Korean dramas. I couldn’t get it out of my head since! Lucky for me I was able to but it on sale, so the 30% off is still something, right?Laneige BB Cusion
  3. Technomarine Manta Neo Classic Watch TM-215019, at least I think that’s the model that I got. I have this friend who’s an avid Technomarine watch collector and earlier this year I was under the impression that his many, many, many watches weren’t a worthy investment. But now that I got one for myself, I think I might get another one – in a couple of years, of course.

I got the manly version though.

I’ve been on a couple of shopping sprees already so I think I’m maxed out for my Christmas quota. I just like to these of these buys as part of this one huge Christmas present for myself, because 2016 has been hard! For next year, I would just like to save up enough for a new MacBook, but since the one I still have is still serviceable, it’s not an urgent thing. But who knows?

Being and adult sucks. Shopping Helps.

Have you guys started on your Christmas shopping yet? What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?
