unravelling the thoughts of an emotional blockhead

Pinoy Traveler’s Unlimited Data Sim Card

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned more than once in this blog that I’m the type of traveler who needs to be connected. At. All. Times.

It’s not for vanity’s sake because while yes, keeping your family and friends updated via your social media accounts is well and nice, not getting lost is even better. I’m a prideful little effer and there’re very few things that I hate more in this world than stopping random strangers in the street to ask for directions. I’d much rather find my way via Google Maps, thank you very much.

Surely, I’m not alone with this line of thinking, right? You’re literally in a country that’s wholly new to you in every fathomable way; surely one would want the lifeline that mobile Internet provides, right?

When I learned earlier this year that I’d be tagging along my parents’ trip to Tokyo, I knew that I needed to get my hands on a prepaid sim card for Japan because I really liked the experience of being hooked up to the Net with no other gadgets other than my phone. I considered ordering one from e-Connect again but I figured that I should shop around first to see if there’s a cheaper option.

Luckily, it didn’t take long before I saw a post for the Facebook Page of Pinoy Traveler’s Unlimited Data Sim Card in one of the travel groups I’m in. I browsed their page and saw that not only did they offer prepaid data sims for Japan, they also offered prepaid data sims for Taiwan! How perfect was that?

We were staying in Tokyo for eight days so I figured I’d get their sim that offers unlimited Data for seven days. At 800 php, it was definitely cheaper than the 1,500 php that e-Connect was offering. Because of a number of reasons (a. I was stingy and wanted to save on shipping costs and b. I only had a few days between my Tokyo and Taipei trips), I decided to order a prepaid Sim for Taiwan as well.

I knew that it was a pretty risky move, since the two cards could’ve very well been busts but the administrator of the FB page was courteous, polite and extremely professional so my fears were allayed. I placed my order five days before my trip and I got the package exactly two days later. A friend of mine unfortunately wasn’t as lucky. She placed her order about four days before our Taiwan trip and somehow LBC lost the parcel (they kept saying that the item was delivered but it wasn’t). We were both surprised when the seller gave her a full refund. Talk about awesome customer service. (Don’t worry, we were able to set up a tethering situation in Taipei so we were both online during our stay).

Would I recommend Pinoy Traveler’s Unlimited Data Sim Card? Hell, yes! Go check out their Facebook page to see the full list of countries they’re offering sim cards of. I just wish that I learned about them earlier in this year because it looks like they’re selling the same data sim card that I ordered for my Europe trip for less than 1000 php.

This is not a sponsored post. I just really like them well enough to write a review.
